Powerboat Skills Day

Course cancelled for Tuesday 21st May – New date to be confirmed

I’ve finalised the dates with Paul for the Powerboat skills course. (previously planned for 20th April)

The course will run over two evenings Tuesday 21st May and Tuesday 18th June 2024.

The course is aimed at

  • Those with PBL2 wanting to brush up on skills or look at Safety Boat skills.
  • Those with Safety Boat wanting to brush up skills or look at next steps or possibility of becoming a Powerboat Instructor.
  • Or those with Powerboat Instructor looking to brush up skills and share teaching techniques and look at next steps.
  • The cost of the two evening course is £40 per person.

Booking is via the RYA website https://www.rya.org.uk/eventlisting/hfc4-powerboat-skills-day. Ignore the fact that it still thinks it is the 20th April.

Happy to chat to anyone who would like some more information.

Return to Sailing?

Interested in developing your dinghy sailing into dinghy racing? Have you been out of sailing for a while and looking to make a comeback, but lacking a little confidence? Have you always wanted to develop your sailing skills, but don’t know where to look for that extra help and advice? Why not come and join us at Halifax Sailing and Watersports Club?

From the beginning of the 2023 season, we will be running sailing development sessions from 10.30 on Sundays. After lunch we will continue these sessions into Sunday afternoon whether you are interested in racing or improving your skills. Club sailors will be on hand to give you advise and helpful tips with Quick Clinics between races to help you develop your skills and get the most out of the great sailing breezes at Warley Moor Reservoir. If you need “on the water” help, why not join in with our buddy sailing system where we give you “on the water advice”.

So how much does all this cost, well the training cost nothing! All you need is to take out a normal sailing membership (£165 per season) and then all this training is given for free as a part of our club racing development program.

We are based at Warley Moor reservoir, close to the wind farm at Wainstalls, Halifax. With the reservoir surrounded by open moorland, we enjoy consistent steady breezes, ideal for sailing and windsports. We have dinghy sailing, windsurfing, wing foiling, canoe and stand up paddleboard memberships available and are a family friendly club.

Interested? Then message, email membership@halifaxsailingclub.org.uk or take a look at our website www.halifaxsailingclub.org.uk for further information. We look forward to seeing you soon!!
