CFFC funds club defribrillator

We are pleased to announce that the Club has recently obtained funding from the Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) for the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The unit will be installed in the clubhouse and will provide immediate treatment for anyone suffering a cardiac arrest.

An AED is a portable device that checks heart rhythm and uses an electric shock to try to restore normal operation. Recent data has shown that people suffering a cardiac arrest have a much greater chance of survival when a defibrillator is used compared to those treated with CPR only. Early intervention is vital with those treated in the first few minutes having the best survival rates.

CFFC is a philanthropic advisor to individual donors and local businesses, a strategic grant making Foundation and community leader. This year they are celebrating 25 years of grant making in Calderdale.

An AED is designed to be used by anyone and training is not essential to its operation. The Club does intend to hold training sessions for anyone interested in learning more about the unit in due course.
